To start, I have given up soda. I did this last year for about 45 days straight I believe. I was very proud of myself and continued to only drink it off and on throughout the following months. However, since about late October, I fell back into the habit of drinking soda quite often. In order to make myself feel better, I decided kicking soda to the curb would be first on my agenda! I started on January 1st and still no soda! :)
Next on my list is being aware of how much I am eating and of what I am eating. I want to be aware of what I am putting into my body. I also want my body to be physically well-rested and also fit. I plan on starting small. To become more rested, I will try to get at least 6 hours of sleep at night. One day this number will hopefully be 8. I also plan on getting more steps in. This can easily be done by parking farther away from the front of the store, or by getting up during commercial breaks and walking around the house. I have always found that if I start small, I can easily handle what I have set my mind to. I can always build up from there. TIP: Do not give yourself more than you can handle. It may seem like a good idea, but at some point it may become overwhelming or disappointing if you don't reach your desired results right away. Wearing a fitbit or a step counter can really help you become more aware of how much you are actually moving throughout the day. On a day that I work, I average about 10,000 to 11,000 steps. On my days off, that number drops to about 2,000 to 3,000 steps. That is a significant difference so I am going to try and take walks more often on my days off. I always like checking my fitness devices and logging my progress ( though more than 70% of the time, I forget to log it). I hope that whatever fitness and health goals you have contemplated and/or are working towards, will benefit your lifestyle and keep you healthy and young! Have a safe, healthy, fun, and happy 2018!! Cheers! Bethany With a new year, a new planner comes along! I am so excited for another year using an Erin Condren planner! Last year I bought a customized coiled LifePlanner from Erin Condren. I spent about $70 on the planner. I chose the color of the coil, I customized the cover with my own photos, I chose colored banners versus neutral banners, I chose the vertical layout,a and what would go into my planner. It was amazing!! Although I loved it and loved decorating it, I just couldn't afford it this year. By surprise, I found hardcover LifePlanners in TJMaxx! They were gorgeous so I decided to buy one for myself, and one for my younger sister as a Christmas gift! The planner I purchased is a nice hardcover LifePlanner with a vertical layout. It is a nice peach planner with black and white flowers covering the front and back of the covers. The banners are in a colorful format versus the neutral option. It is super pretty and I am glad I found it for such a steal! I purchased this planner for $8!!! I am looking forward to filling out my 2018 plans in this beauty. Any Erin Condren planner fans out there? If not Erin Condren, which brand do you prefer? To those who don't keep planners like these, how do you prefer to organize your schedule?
Here's to an organized and fun 2018!! Cheers! Bethany This year I would like to be more productive, successful, and happy. In order to fulfill these New Year's resolutions, I believe learning and reading is essential. I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and saw a post from a reading group. They shared this image from www.HANNAHBRAIME.com. I thought it was perfect to start out my New Year! I hope to compile some of the books I read and give write a list of suggestions for you all! I think I am going to print out this list and check it off each time I read a book. I am not going to read them in chronological order, either. To all my fellow bookworms, I hope you enjoy this post and read many books in 2018. Everyone else, I hope you successfully fulfill your resolutions and maybe pick up a book or two, as well. Cheers! Bethany New Year's Resolutions... Hmm. Something that I tend to keep, however, I only last a few months.
Well, this year I intend on keeping my New Year's resolutions throughout the year. I would like to become more productive, successful, and happy this year. I hope to see a clear path for my future and intend to work very hard to make these dreams and plans happen. What are your New Year's resolutions? Feel free to share! Happy New Year!! Happy New Year!
I spent my New Year's Eve with my wonderful boyfriend, and his brother and sister! We played card and dice games before the clock stroke midnight. We watched the ball in NYC drop (only a minute late, thanks to commercials) and we yelled and made lots of noise at midnight. There have already been a few downs to this year, but hopefully it will only rise from here. Cheers to the New Year! Each family has their own Christmas traditions. I'd like to share one of those traditions with you! The day after Thanksgiving, we don't go shopping for Black Friday. Instead, we set up our Christmas tree! We have always ordered Pizza Hut pizza, put on National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and brought down all of our decorations from the attic. We set up the dazzling lights and displays in the front yard, wrap the garland around the railing, and set up the Christmas tree. First the garland, then the lights, and then the ornaments. Opening up the box of ornaments is always wonderful. New ornaments and old ornaments, they're all so pretty. My mom has a tin full of her parent's ornaments. Over the years they have become too fragile to place on the tree, but it is always a nice treat to look over the now vintage ornaments. Next we look over our childhood ornaments and add them to the tree. Once all of the ornaments are placed on the tree, it is time to figure out who gets to put the star on! Each year we rotate who places the star on the tree, that way everyone has a chance. About every 3 to 4 years it is your turn again! Once the star is on the tree, we sort through the rest of our decorations. We clean up and put away the boxes. We then usually hang out in the living room together until we're all too tired to stay up any longer! I love this tradition. It is a really nice memory to have and to look back on! Do you have a family tradition for setting up your tree? Feel free to share a Christmas memory, and this post! Merry Christmas! ~Bethany Whether you are looking for stuffers for your sister, mom, or girlfriend, the following items will apply! Let me know what you think of the stocking stuffers below! Do you have anything to add?
Stuffing a stocking for that special someone? Here are some stocking stuffer ideas for you! My boyfriend and I have exchanged stockings every Christmas. One of my favorite memories from Christmas mornings when I was younger was being able to open my stocking while my parents got up and moving. I really want to continue this tradition, so Ray and I have exchanged stockings every Christmas before we open gifts!
If you've been stuck on how to fill his stocking, I hope some of these ideas helped!
