This past week I've discovered and rediscovered some of my now favorite songs! Multiple times I have found myself humming or singing these songs at work or on the way to school. Since I can't get them out of my head, I thought I should at least share the talent with you!
Girl Crush by Little Big Town: This is perfection in a song. Jealousy, love, and longing turned into a sweet and smooth melody. Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0TxUL_5Gl0 Dollhouse by Melanie Martinez: Creepy and strange yet interesting all the same. The music video is a bit odd but the story of the song basically says how every family has their own secrets they try and keep secretive without having anyone "look through the curtains." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcVv9R1ZR84 Dear Future Husband by Meghan Trainor: Such a cute and upbeat song about finding the right guy. Great song to sing along to! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShlW5plD_40 I Will Remember You by Sarah McLachlan: A beautiful song! Keeps reminding me that I'm graduating high school this year! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxoEpVDGvPE (If you've ever watched "The Office", I love Andy's version too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltdmNfXMljY ) Falling Slowly (covered by) Damian McGinty: Absolutely gorgeous song! The key, dynamics, and instrumental background with the vocal melts into perfection. This version is the lyric video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJHYx2wl_tA Feel free to get these songs stuck in your head too! Any suggestions for a good song? Leave a comment below!

To start off, my snake print makeup bag is from the brand Sonia Kashuk, I love it! The great thing about this bag is that it has two large pockets that unfold which makes it easier to separate face and eye products! I think this bag was around $11. If you can't find or if you don't own any makeup bags, pencil cases work too! Spring break is approaching quickly (whoo!) and I'm kicking off the Spring spirit with an essentials makeup kit for those of you traveling over break. When I'm traveling I like to pack light and only the necessary items. Bonus, all of the products in the kit were found at my local drugstores, so they're pretty affordable! (Sorry that my makeup isn't 100% clean, I am human after all.) I mentioned in my last post how I suffer from chronic migraines and I thought I could share a bit more information on that if anyone is interested. Sorry that this won't be a beauty centered post, but I thought it might be helpful to anyone interested.
First I'd like to start off by saying that I am seventeen years old and have been experiencing a constant background headache for the past year (as of May 2014). Last year in May, I suffered from a horrible migraine that lasted for what seemed like a day or two. Ever since then, this background headache has stayed with me. For a few months after the huge migraine, I started getting a migraine a week. Now in March 2015, I have 2-4 migraines a week. These migraines can come with auras or sometimes they just suddenly spike. Auras are basically warning signs that a migraine is about to occur. Some auras I experience are dizziness, blurry vision, a pain in my head, an extreme spike in pain of my background headache, strange smells, a pressure like my head is in a vise or numbness. Since May, I have become very sensitive to lighting and audio. Another aura that can occur deals with my auditory sensory. If I drop a pin it will sound like a sledgehammer hitting a nail. If I take a step it sounds like an elephant stomped next to me. When I wake up in the morning with a migraine, it'll usually sound like talking or music blaring through a stereo next to my head. It is a horrible way to start my day, but I've just gotten used to it and try to brush it off so I can get ready for school. To help ease the pain of the migraine I usually take Ibuprofen or my prescribed medicine. Sometimes it just doesn't work, so I take a nap, go to bed early, take a bath, or just lay down. I've also heard that most people find relief when using a hot towel on their head, but I'm the opposite. Using hot items makes it worse, so I use an ice pack. It doesn't really matter what you use if it relieves the pain. Since the migraines and headaches can be so distracting, uncomfortable, and painful, it's best to find something to ease the headache so I can carry on with my day. I know that it doesn't seem that serious, but it really can make me so irritable and distracted from things I need to get done. I am prescribed to medication and have seen a few doctors and will be going to see a new neurologist in a few months... If there is anything you're interested in that I didn't mention, since I really only mentioned my auras and the time periods, just e-mail me or leave a comment below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Hope this was a little helpful to anyone suffering from migraines or just interested in them. 1. I love music! I've previously mentioned that I have a singing channel but my passion is much stronger than shown through the Internet. I am currently taking three music classes at my high school, two choral and one music theory. I also play multiple instruments and love singing karaoke!
2. I come from a big family! I am the seventh kid of eight and just love all the craziness and fun it comes with. I also adore my nieces and nephews! 3. I am seventeen years old! Back in 2013 I turned "Sweet Sixteen", and now in 2015 I'll be turning the big 18! I am absolutely thrilled to be graduating high school and am excited for future life events to come! 4. I'm a bookworm! I have a bookshelf in my room full of my all time favorites. (I'm also writing a book at the moment! Shhh...) 5. My passion (which may be a bit obvious) is makeup! I have an Alex 9 drawer unit from Ikea filled with makeup! Plus I have a 3 drawer unit (Wal-Mart) filled with beauty products and tools beside it. 6. I love animals, but I am definitely a dog person. My family owns 4 dogs, one cat, one bunny, and 4 fish. They are the cutest and sweetest pets! 7. Ironically, seven is my favorite number! It is a common favorite, not so sure why, but everything is usually set or grouped to seven if I'm in charge. 8. I constantly have a background headache and I get migraines from 2-4 times a week. Some migraines have auras that come with them. Usually these auras consist of: a strange smell, dizziness, blurry vision, a spike of pain in my head or my background headache will randomly peak. My hearing and eyesight is also very sensitive with the background headaches and migraines. (If you would like to know more, I will be posting a blog about this soon...) 9. My favorite flower is a rose. They are so gorgeous and smell amazing, but the reason I like them may be different than why others do. Usually people love the flower for their beauty or coloring. I love the flower because even though they are beautiful and appear delicate, they have thorns that protect them. Roses are much like people in this way. They can appear one way but they have secrets and insecurities that that their attitudes/emotions or "thorns" will protect them from. The petals are also interesting and have an intricate design! 10. I'm allergic to cinnamon, raspberries and sea salt, which is a shame because cinnamon is one of God's gifts to the planet. Lol. 11. My favorite drugstore makeup brand is Maybelline. The brand has great quality makeup and sells for a great price. If I am looking for a quick fix or a cheaper product, I will buy from E.L.F. which is also a great , affordable brand. 12. My three favorite types of cosmetics would be blush, lipstick, and mascara. I hate leaving the house without mascara or lipstick, just because they easily can add a pop to your outfit and they make me feel a bit more "glammed" up. 13. At the moment, my favorite "high end" makeup brand would be M.A.C., mostly for the lipsticks! As I said before, I really love lip products!! 14. I am such a procrastinator! Really, I can't trust myself to get things done on time, but I'm working on it! I guess some people call it senioritis, I call it a bit done with everything and just want to push everything aside and sleep, but oh well. 15. I hate the smell of lavender! It makes me sick, I've tried to get used to it, but something about it just makes me ill. 16. I haven't really told anyone about my blog or YouTube accounts because I didn't really want to be judged or stand out. Throughout the past few years, high school has helped me to realize people will talk no matter what. I'd rather be doing what I love and have people talk than sitting and wishing I had done something with my life. 17. I want to become a licensed makeup artist. This definitely won't be a full time career, since I would also like to pursue a career in Environmental Science! I hope you liked these 17 facts about me! I enjoyed thinking over my life and trying to discover unique differences that set me apart from everyone else. I would love to hear some interesting facts about you, if you'd like just comment below! This past year I have been receiving a monthly beauty subscription from Ipsy. It is $10 a month to sample all sorts of brands and for a great quality! After about 6-7 months of Ipsy, I've decided to take the next step and sample BoxyCharm. BoxyCharm is another monthly beauty subscription. This box is more expensive though, ($21). The difference is that full size products are usually given in BoxyCharm. I've heard people receive up to $100 worth of makeup in a box that only costs $21. I don't know about you, but I think that is a fantastic deal! So to see if BoxyCharm is all that it seems to be, I decided to unbox it through a blog for you! Last, but certainly not least, I received the Previse Nutrify Skin Type 1-6 Universal Tonic - Full Size ($48)! This is part of the Previse Skin Type set, and I've fallen in love with it already! I've used it twice so far and I really enjoyed using it. Not only does it nutrify and heal your skin, but it is a calming and relaxing experience! When I used this, I basically created my own at home spa, so much fun! While reviewing this box, I realized how great of a deal it is. I paid $21 for this box, and received $112 worth of products. That's great! Every item seems to be great quality so far, and promising overall. If you are looking for a monthly subscription to check out, BoxyCharm or Ipsy are really nice suggestions. There are also all sorts of boxes out there, so don't be afraid to check them out!
I hope you enjoyed this Unboxing blog and let me know if you ever want something like this again! I am not affiliated with BoxyCharm, Ipsy, or any products mentioned above. I just wanted to share my opinion and only recommend what I think is a great deal! Today we had a beautiful snow storm. Although sleet and ice was involved in the early afternoon, by 3 o'clock the snow had accumulated to around 2 inches. It's around 7 now, and we have roughly 6 inches! So instead of letting this snow day go to waste, Jenny (my sister) and I went out for a little photo shoot of our own. Tomorrow we'll have a snow ball fight and build our snow fort. In the meantime, I thought I would share some of the photos we took of each other and the wonderful nature of my backyard. |
